Tips for businesses during contingency

Dear reader, we want to let you know that we hope you are safe and doing well during these hard times. We hope your business is doing well too and hopefully some of these tips or ideas might help make this situation a little less overwhelming.

We were recently contacted by The Monopolitan and they asked if we had any advice on what a business could do to attract clients during this contingency. Here are some of our thoughts on what we’ve experienced, either by trying it out ourselves or by seeing others take action in different ways.

  1. Take care of your existing or previous clients. Instead of focusing on getting new ones, make sure the clients that have placed their confidence in you feel taken care of. They want to know you’re doing ok too! Reach out, ask how everything is going, and if possible, send a nice message/gift/gif?

  2. Remind people that you are here and you are present. One way of doing this is with a newsletter, by using social media or personally reaching out. To attract new clients, you could try sponsoring posts on social media or reaching out to blogs or accounts that might publish your content and share with a larger audience.

  3. We have some extra time on our hands these days, and this could mean that we can dedicate time to internal strategies. It could be time to plant some seeds that will show benefits in the near future. For example, try blogging (hi), work on personal projects, take some photographs for website/instagram content. Figure out how Google Ads work? Engage more with instagram users. We also took some time to organize Mailchimp lists and try a CRM tool like hubspot.com.

  4. With this extra time, you could possibly develop or share tools that might help your existing clients and/or potential clients. These tools could be kits, information pieces, tutorials, tips, etc. It could also be simply sharing inspiration or useful content on stories, for example.

  5. Entertainment is very welcome these days. It could be the highlight of someone’s day to see something pretty, learn something interesting or interact and be active. Our client Puerto 21 sells frozen seafood. A few weeks ago they created a sushi kit that sold out in just 2 days. They used their regular products and simply added a sushi mat and some extra ingredients that turned a meal into a fun activity.

  6. This last one is probably the most important. We are going through a global crisis. If your business can afford it, try to be understanding of your customers and offer support in any way you can. This could be offering discounts or deals on your services/product. It could be an opportunity for your business to keep growing and for your clients to afford to grow as well.

Hopefully some of this content will help you grow your business. Please feel free to contact us if we can be of any help!

Stay safe ♥
